Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Wandering Horizons Travel, LLC ("Wandering Horizons," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Odyssey Guide mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information we collect

We collect only the information needed to generate walking tours, guide you along them, and manage your account.

Account information

When you sign in with Apple, Google, Microsoft, or email, we receive your user identifier, display name, and email address as provided by the authentication provider. We store a user ID and optional email to manage your account. Guest access provides limited functionality without an account.

Location data

With your permission, we collect precise GPS location data to provide real-time route guidance, proximity-based stop detection, and walking navigation. During active walks, we record GPS coordinates approximately every 30 seconds to enable walk replay and activity history. Location data is linked to your user account. You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings.

Walk activity data

We record information about your walking tours, including routes walked, stops reached, walk duration, distance traveled, and weather conditions at the time of your walk.

Saved places

When you bookmark places of interest, we store the place name, location, and category linked to your account.

Camera and photos

When you use the AI object identification feature, photos are sent to our server for processing and are not permanently stored. Photos are discarded after the identification result is returned.

Purchases and subscriptions

The App offers consumable "Walking Tickets" and auto-renewing subscriptions. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store, and entitlements are validated and tracked through RevenueCat. We receive purchase receipts, an app-specific user identifier, your ticket balance, transaction history, and subscription status. We do not receive or store your full payment card number — that is handled by Apple.

Rewarded advertising data

You may optionally watch short rewarded video ads to earn Walking Tickets. These ads are served by Google AdMob, which may process device and advertising identifiers and ad-interaction data to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud. When an ad completes, a verification token is sent to our backend so we can grant the appropriate tickets. Subscribers are not shown ads.

Technical and diagnostic information

When the App communicates with our servers, we automatically receive standard technical data such as the App version, device type, and request timing for security, troubleshooting, and reliability monitoring. We use Firebase App Check to confirm that requests come from a genuine, unmodified copy of the App.

Connected services (optional)

If you choose to connect a third-party account such as Strava, the activity data you elect to share (for example, a completed walk) is sent to that service at your direction. You can disconnect at any time in the App.

2. How we use your information

  • Generate personalized walking tour routes based on your location and preferences
  • Provide turn-by-turn walking navigation and stop proximity alerts
  • Record and display your walk history and activity statistics
  • Enable AI-powered features such as nearby place search and object identification
  • Process purchases, manage subscriptions, and maintain your Walking Ticket balance
  • Deliver and verify optional rewarded ads, and grant earned tickets
  • Manage your account and saved content
  • Secure the service, prevent abuse, and fix issues

3. Third-party services & processors

We use the following third-party services to provide App functionality. Each receives only the data necessary for its specific function.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data with the third-party processors listed above only to the extent necessary to provide App functionality. We may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, we will provide notice before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Advertising & your choices

Rewarded ads in the App are optional — they only appear if you choose to watch a video to earn Walking Tickets. We do not display banner ads or interrupt your walks with advertising, and subscribers see no ads at all.

Where required, you will be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown, and you can control ad tracking through iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking and limit personalized advertising under Settings › Privacy & Security › Apple Advertising. You can learn more about Google's advertising practices and opt-out options at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

6. Data storage & security

Your data is stored on secure Microsoft Azure servers. Authentication tokens are stored locally on your device using the iOS Keychain. All communication between the App and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. While we implement industry-standard security measures, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

7. Data retention

We retain your account data and walk history for as long as your account is active. Walk location logs and activity records are retained to enable walk replay and statistics. You may delete your account at any time through the App's Profile settings, which permanently removes all of your data from our servers within 30 days.

8. Your rights & choices

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion — delete your account and all associated data through the App
  • Portability — request your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent — revoke location permissions at any time through iOS Settings

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion. 9. Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Profile › Delete Account in the App. Account deletion permanently removes your user profile, walk history, saved places, bookmarks, and all associated data from our servers. If you signed in with Apple, your Sign in with Apple token will be revoked. This action cannot be undone. Note that purchase and subscription records held by Apple are governed by Apple's policies.

10. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us so we can delete it.

11. International users

We are based in the United States and process and store information on servers located in the United States and other regions operated by our cloud providers. If you access the App from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last updated" date, and significant changes may also be surfaced in the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
