This walk explores how Tokyo’s historic districts reflect the shifting meanings of power, war, and remembrance. Beginning with Edo under the Tokugawa shogunate, it traces a city shaped by castle grounds, samurai administration, temples, and shrines. It then follows the Meiji transformation of these spaces into ministries, archives, parks, and ceremonial sites. Key stops include Yūshūkan, Yasukuni, the National Archives of Japan, and Nippon Budokan.

- 01 Yūshūkan Museum
Yūshūkan Museum is a military and remembrance museum within the Yasukuni Shrine precinct in Chiyoda, first opened in 1882 as one of Japan's earliest military museums.
- 02 Yasukuni Shrine
Yasukuni Shrine is a Shinto shrine in Chiyoda, founded in 1869 to commemorate those who died in service of the imperial state.
- 03 Chinreisha
Chinreisha is a small auxiliary shrine within the Yasukuni Shrine precinct in Chiyoda, established in 1965 to console the spirits of all war dead regardless of nationality.
- 04 千秋文庫 (Senshu Bunko)
Senshu Bunko is a historical archive and library facility in the Kudan area of Chiyoda, known for preserving books and documentary materials related to Japanese history and culture.
- 05 National Showa Memorial Museum
The National Showa Memorial Museum is a museum in Chiyoda that opened in 1999 to document the hardships of civilians during the Showa period, especially during and after the Second World War.
- 06 Kudanshita Station
Kudanshita Station is a Tokyo subway station in Chiyoda near Yasukuni Shrine and the former outer precincts of Edo Castle, serving as a major gateway to the Kudan area.
- 07 しょうけい館 (Shokei-kan Museum)
Shokei-kan Museum is a Chiyoda museum established in 2006 to preserve testimonies and objects relating to people injured or otherwise affected by war and postwar repatriation.
- 08 National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo
The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo is Japan's first national art museum, opened in 1952 in Chiyoda near the former Edo Castle precinct.
- 09 National Archives of Japan
The National Archives of Japan is a government archival institution in Chiyoda, established in 1971 to preserve and provide access to official records of the Japanese state.
- 10 Nippon Budokan
Nippon Budokan is an arena in Kitanomaru, Chiyoda, completed in 1964 on former Edo Castle grounds as a martial arts venue for the Tokyo Olympics.
