This walk explores one of Dublin’s oldest districts, where Viking settlement, trade, worship, industry, and hardship shaped the city over centuries. It begins at Wood Quay and Dublinia, linking the Viking Longphort and the River Liffey to Dublin’s origins. The route then passes Christ Church Cathedral, Saint Patrick’s well, the whiskey district of The Coombe, and the industrial Liberties with their breweries, distilleries, and tenements. It also includes the Four Courts, a landmark of law and authority marked by Civil War destruction.
