It also passes the old Five Points, where gang violence and later Prohibition-era bootlegging fed the neighborhood’s underworld legends. Along the way, stops like the Italian American Museum, Old Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, and Alleva Dairy show immigrant enterprise and organized crime growing side by side.

Magnificent house of worship built by Eastern European Jewish immigrants, reflecting the diverse mosaic of Lower Manhattan immigrant streetscapes alongside Italian neighbors.
- 07 “Big Tim” Sullivan’s Clubhouse
Big Tim Sullivan was a powerful New York politician associated with Tammany Hall and the Bowery political machine. The clubhouse name refers to his role as a dominant figure in early 20th-century Lower Manhattan politics.

A historic institution on the Bowery that witnessed poverty, addiction, migration, and the hard-edged social worlds that grew around downtown Manhattan.
- 09 Old St. Patrick's Cathedral

This square honors Lieutenant Giuseppe Petrosino, the first Italian-American officer to head a dedicated organized crime unit, forming the NYPD's Italian Squad in 1904 to fight extortion rackets known as the Black Hand.
