   St Bartholomew's Hospital Museum

   St Bartholomew's Hospital — universally known as Barts — was co-founded in 1123 by Rahere alongside the priory, making it England's oldest hospital on its original site.

   The Golden Boy of Pye Corner

   This small gilded cherub mounted high on the corner of a building at the junction of Giltspur Street and Cock Lane marks the traditional western limit of the Great Fire of London in 1666.

   Grey Friars Monastery

   A Franciscan monastery founded in 1225, site of the death of King Richard III. The church was destroyed in the Great Fire.

   A quiet garden site marking the location of the medieval Greyfriars monastery and church, destroyed in the Great Fire.

   Charterhouse

   Charterhouse Square lies directly above one of the largest plague burial grounds in medieval London.

   Smithfield Market

   Smithfield has been London's principal meat market since at least the tenth century, when it was the city's smoothfield — a flat open space outside the wall where livestock were traded.

   St Sepulchre-without-Newgate

   One of the largest surviving medieval church sites in the City, St Sepulchre's is named for the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, reflecting the crusading spirituality of the twelfth century.
